Kia Ora/Welcome to Komorebi Creative Arts. I'm Lynda, a registered and qualified neurodivergent Creative Arts Therapist with a background in teaching. I am also a trained ADHD Coach and Consultant.

I am based in Tasman at the Top of The South in Aotearoa/New Zealand. I completed my Master of Arts in Arts Therapy at Whitecliffe in 2020. I  started studying a Postgraduate Diploma in Arts Therapy also at Whitecliffe in 2017. I have been operating Komorebi Creative Arts since the start of 2021. I have worked in schools running individual and group arts therapy and have offered workshops in the community. Now Komorebi Creaitve Arts  is primarily run as a small home-based clinical studio where I offer individual and family sessions.

In addition to Creative Arts Therapy, I also offer coaching and consulting specializing in ADHD. I have extensive experience working with the neurodivergent community in a variety of roles over the last 30 years in both education and mental health. I completed an ADHD Clinical Services Provider (ADHD-CCSP) Certification Course: Strength-based Interventions to Thrive with ADHD from Childhood to Adulthood with PESI in 2025.I also have lived experience as a late-diagnosed female with ADHD.

Sessions for both  Creative Arts Therapy and ADHD Coaching/Consultancy are in person or online. My clinic hours are Mon/Tues 1 - 6.30pm and Thurs 2- 6pm.

Outside of the above, I work within the counselling team at Nayland College as a guidance counsellor/arts therapist. I enjoy the variety my mahi/work gives me being in two very different environments along with the opportunity to work with children, youth and adults.

My therapeutic approach is humanistic and is centered around supporting and developing a client's intuition around what is needed to process or integrate thoughts, feelings or experiences. My home-based studio is a rustic, home-like environment where 'being with' what is alive in the moment is gently and sensitively held. Creative Arts Therapy or The Expressive Arts offers clients a way to access pieces of themselves that perhaps either don't have words or make more sense when explored through the creative arts. Talking is welcomed and there is no pressure to create if that is what is preferred. I foster a judgment free zone where no experience of art is required along with the invitation to let go of a product. Modalities available in the studio include the visual arts, nature-based-art, sandtray, movement/dance, writing/poetry and dramatic play (which is popular with young children).

To get in touch simply email Lynda at komorebicreativearts@gmail.com. I will follow up with an offer of a free 30 minute phone consultation to ascertain whether or not my service might be a good fit for you, your family member or perhaps a student at your school. I will guide you with the referral process and setting up an initial trial session.

Sessions can either be funded or self-funded. I am registered with Gumboot Friday which provides a minimum of two funded sessions. I can also support the process of applying for WINZ- funded counselling sessions. I also accept referrals from Cancer Society Nelson Tasman and Permanent Caregiver Support Service. (PCSS). Self-funded sessions are $120. Sessions vary from being one off sessions, up to six sessions and longer-term depending on the need of the client. All sessions have an intention which is discussed at the time of booking.

One family member or a caregiver is warmly invited to support children and youth during sessions. The majority of my referrals are from the neurodivergent community. However all neurotypes are warmly welcomed. Online sessions are available for adults (18 plus) located anywhere in Aotearoa/New Zealand.

ADHD Coaching/Consulting

Coaching has evolved as part of my service in response to a high percentage of referrals coming through for Creative Arts Therapy from families/caregivers with children and youth who have recently been diagnosed with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) or are wondering about going down the diagnosis route. The support that is often looked for is practical and different to therapy. This includes navigating the diagnosis process, exploring accommodations that can be put in place in a school setting (with or without a diagnosis) and understanding the ADHD brain.

I specialise in working with families/caregivers of girls and women with ADHD or suspected ADHD along with youth and adults who are gender diverse. I also work with children, youth and adults with autism or suspected autism. Some clients may have both ADHD and autism.

Sessions are one hour in duration and can vary to being just a one off or may be a series of sessions to focus on using tools to improve specific challenges with ADHD . A plan can be discussed during an initial free 30 minute phone consultation to ascertain what it is you are hoping to achieve from coaching.

I can work directly with children, youth and their parent/caregiver, with a parent/caregiver or as a family. This really depends on what is going to work best as a family unit. It is something that can also be discussed when a booking is made.

Referrals are accepted throughout New Zealand/Aotearoa. Sessions are available in person or online in Nelson/Tasman. Online sessions are available outside of Nelson/Tasman.

Coaching sessions are $120 an hour.

Consultations are available for organisations and schools who would like some support around setting up appropriate accommodations for their neurodivergent students and/or staff. Appointments are also available on the phone or online throughout New Zealand/Aoteoroa. Consultations are $120 an hour. They are available in person within Nelson/Tasman (I can come to you) or online. Online consultations are available outside of Nelson/Tasman for the rest of Aotearoa/New Zealand. Please email Lynda at komorebicreativearts@gmail.com with any inquiries or to set up an initial free 30 minute phone consultation to discuss what kind of support you are looking for.

What do I choose - therapy or coaching, or both?

If you are unsure what is the right fit for you, a your family member or a student, we can absolutely discuss this at the time of the initial phone consultation. The reason my service has broadened beyond therapy is because sometimes a child or young person may not want to engage in therapy. Coaching offers a way to support a family member without them needing to attend. Having said that, sometimes it might be a blended approach where a child or young person comes into Creative Arts Therapy sessions for a respite from the challenges of living in a neurotypical world where they may experience some relaxation and regulation through the Creative Arts. I can work with a parent/caregiver in the coaching realm as a supplement to Creative Arts Therapy offering guidance with tools to try as a family.

Testimonials

My son started going to see Lynda just after starting school and having difficulty with the transition from Kindy. Lynda's art therapy sessions became a place where he could be calm and express himself in the way that he enjoyed with the arts and this put him in a good head space for the rest of the day. He really enjoyed the sessions and felt very comfortable with Lynda. Lynda was great in communicating to us how the sessions had gone.
